James Sherman “Jim” Ayres.
Peacefully, at the Brantford General Hospital, on Thursday, March 18, 2021 Jim passed away in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Tessie. Loving father of Darin and his wife Chris and Duane and his wife Susanne. Jim was a very special grandpa to James (Angie), Shelley, Hudson and Nolan. Great-grandfather to Mason. He will be missed by his brother Keith and sisters Glenda and Chris. Predeceased by his sisters Gwen and Pat. Jim served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia and was proud to be recognized as a veteran. He excelled at numerous sports over his years and truly loved every minute he spent on the Trent Canal fishing. He was a hard worker who lived an honest life. He will be dearly missed by extended family, many friends and former colleagues. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Brantford General Hospital who were wonderful and went above and beyond to take care of our father and husband. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home Ltd. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent restrictions on gathering a Private Family Funeral Service will be held. Father Jason Postma of St. James Anglican Church will officiate. In Jim’s memory, donations to the Arnold Anderson Sport Fund would be appreciated by the family.
