President’s Message

Annual General Meeting and Elections
Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.

We need an influx of new Executive members to inject a new energy into our Branch.

Due to COVID-19 protocols lessening, Ontario Command is allowing the Branch to have a General Meeting and Elections this year. As our by-laws state, our elections are for two (2) years and elections are to be held in the month of April in odd-numbered years. Since there have been no elections in three (3) years, the term of office this time will be for one year and returning to the two-year terms in April of 2023.

This meeting and election on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. is probably the most important one in many years. Along with the election, we will discuss the many changes made here over the last two (2) years.

We have lost or will lose some long-serving Executive members and we will miss them. My thanks to these Executive members for their service to our Branch, to our members and to our community.

To be elected:

·       President

·       Two (2) Vice-Presidents

·       Secretary

·       Treasurer

·       Six (6) Executive Committee Members

These terms of office will start on June 1, 2022 and conclude on May 31, 2023.

Committee Chairs are required and may be any one of the Executive or appointed by the President. Committees are:

·       Membership

·       Service Officer

·       Honours and Awards

·       Poppy

·       Sports

·       Ways and Means

·       Sergeant-At-Arms

·       House

·       Bar

·       Youth Education

·       Nevada and Lotteries

·       Sick and Visiting

·       Chaplain

If you are interest and have questions on Chair responsibilities, feel free to contact Andy Moran at 519-442-2193.

Car / Bike Show Fundraiser for Branch 29 Legion
Mid-August 2022

Branch 29 Legion is planning a car show Mid-August 2022. Preliminary discussions suggest we could expect over 300 plus cars due to no car shows for the last couple of years. This seems aggressive for our first show and we will likely restrict to the first 200 cars plus Bikes.

This will be a major fundraiser for the Branch with anticipated spectators and car owners attending in the range of 500+ people throughout the day.

If you are a car enthusiast (or not) and able to help, we are looking for volunteers to sit on our Car Show Committee. (you do not have to be a member of the Branch) Committee members will be responsible for specific functions of the Show with the support of the other committee members.

If you are able and would like to volunteer on the day of the Show we would like to hear from you. We know things can change between now and August, we can work with that.

We have the full support from members of the Deuces & Eights Car club in Paris and they will be working with us throughout the day of the show.

As we are in the early stages of planning a lot of details have yet to be discussed and considered. We do have a solid outline and need to refine the project.
