President’s report

Hello Everyone

I hope everyone had a great Summer. Nice weather is still going on but days are getting shorter.

The car show was a success. The day was not the best as it started out cloudy and eventually rained. The good news is we had over 70 cars and many people showing up to see the view the vehicles. I would like to thank the Deuces and Eights for their help and all the people that volunteered. Special thanks to the committee members who worked so hard to make this happen – Earl MacDonald, Ed McGuire, Al Robb, Bill Rowsell, Roy Haggart and Andy Moran (retired). We will decide whether to go forward next year after the general meeting in September.

We have an upcoming General Meeting on Wednesday September on the 21st at 7:30 PM. Come out and help us shape the future of your legion.

We will be doing a FREE movie night on Friday, September 23 at 7 P.M. The movie on our big screen is the new Elvis movie. Members and their guests are welcome. Free popcorn will be provided.

Upcoming event scheduled in the upcoming months.

On November 19 we will be holding our yearly Cancer Benefit. This will be the 10th anniversary of this worthwhile event. All of the money stays in the community, to provide transportation for patients to get to their medical appointments.

November is also our 300 club draw. November 26th is the draw date. Tickets will be available this week at the bar.

The Poppy CampaignI am looking for volunteers to help on this year’s Poppy campaign.

I am looking for several people to look after delivering Poppy boxes to place of business and ensuring boxes are full of poppies and that donation boxes are picked up and returned to the Branch .

I am also looking for people to help in the counting of money. There will also be a need for volunteers to do tagging on our weekend blitz during the poppy Campaign.

Sports at the Legion . . .

September is the start of sports at the branch.

NFL starts on September 11. The branch will be open at noon on Sunday. Come out and watch the games on our 82 inch screen.

Football Pools: Speaking of football. Our football pools will be up and running this week. There will be a $10 elimination pool and a weekly $5 pick the winners of all the Sunday and Monday games.

Men’s Darts: sign up sheet will be up this week. Darts start Oct 4th at 7 PM

Pool League Sign up sheet will be up this week. Pool starts Oct 5th at 7 PM

Ladies Darts: Sign up sheet will be up this week. It starts October 6th at7 PM

Euchre: In-house Euchre tournament will be held on Saturday, October 22. Registration at 12:30 p.m., tournament starts at 1 PM.
