President’s message

Hi everyone,

Well another month has passed us by. The weather is cooling down and people are starting to move inside. Luckily we have a lot of upcoming events to keep you entertained. First to clear up stuff that happened in September.

Our BBQ’s have come to an end for 2022. It was a decent year for weather but sales were down quite a bit from the last two years. It is mostly due to everything opening up after COVID. Our food costs went up like your grocery bill so prices needed to go up which also could have affected our sales.

We had our first movie night on Sept. 23rd. It was a great movie and well attended. We look forward to seeing more people out at our next movie in October.

Sunday NFL football started and numbers are pretty consistent. Lots of room for watch the game on the big screen. Hotdogs are available and occasionally sausage.

Knitting on Sunday has also started. Come out and bring your yarn and knitting needles

Roy H. Has decided to resign from his position as special project co-ordinator. He was a very valuable asset to the branch over the last 3 years. We are sorry to see him leave and wish him well in whatever he decides to do with his time. If you would be interested in taking on this position please let us know.

Upcoming events:

SPORTS HAVE STARTED: Sports is starting up next week. Tuesday will be the start of Men’s Darts. Wednesday will be Pool. Please note it is full. Thursday will be Ladies Darts. Come out and support sports after two long years of struggle.

Our hours will be changing due to above sports events.

TRIVIA NIGHT (Oct. 13)We are going to have a trivia night on October 13th. Get a team together or come out and test your general knowledge.

HALLOWE’EN PARTY WITH LIVE BAND (Oct. 29)We have a band coming in on October 29th. 5-7PM for Halloween. Dress up and enjoy some music.

300 CLUB TICKETS: Our 300 Club tickets are for sale at the bar. This is a very worthwhile event as it raises money for Christmas hampers.

MOVIE NIGHT: Again we will be holding another movie night. Date and movie to be determined.

Coming in November:

REMEMBRANCE DAY – CANCER BENEFIT – 300 CLUB DRAW: Upcoming in November will be Remembrance Day, a Cancer Benefit and 300 club draw.

MacKENZIE BROTHERS POOL TOURNAMENT (Dec. 3): Starting at 1:00 p.m.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Regards,

Donald MacLeod
President

POPPY CAMPAIGN

September 21, 2022

Dear Comrades,The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Poppy Committee will be conducting their annual campaign commencing Friday October 28th. Last year over $25,000.00 was raised and we have donated over $17,000.00 to help Veterans and Youth Education this year.

We will be having our members canvassing at local business this year. There will be a sign-up sheet on the notice board at the Branch, and I ask all members to consider volunteering for a shift.

Member donations can be mailed to the above address, cheques, cash may be dropped off at Branch #29.  Receipts for income tax will be prepared and mailed out to those donating $5.00 or more.

If you have any questions on the campaign or on purchasing wreaths phone the undersigned.
