In Memoriam – Jim Howard

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jim Howard, a cherished member of our Legion family.

Jim had been a proud member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 Paris since 2009 and was a familiar face, visiting almost daily. His positive attitude, warm demeanor, and friendly spirit touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Goodbye, “Scooter Jim” — we will miss you dearly.

Jim “Scooter Jim” Howard

December 13, 1937 – November 1, 2025

Passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Brantford, Ontario, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 87 years. Cherished husband to the late Ruth Ann Howard (nee Whitham) (1986); Beloved father to the late Linda Brown and Robert Howard (Sharon Ward) of Brantford, Ontario, as well as infant daughter Cathy Howard. Cherished grandfather to 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Dear brother to Joyce Moreira (the late David) and brother-in-law to Karen Howard and Jean Howard. Sadly missed by nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Predeceased also by his brothers Doug and Bill Howard.

Jim was born, raised, and lived all but 3 years of his entire life in Paris on Mulholland Drive. He grew to know and love the town and the friends he made here. Personally, he loved the outdoors, hunting, and all that it gave back to him. He also enjoyed carving in wood, and his objects of artistry meant a lot to his family as heirlooms.

He was a long-time member of Branch 29 Royal Canadian Legion here in Paris and the friendships he made lasted a lifetime. He loved his family and will be sadly missed.

Friends may call at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River St. N., Paris, on Thursday November 6, 2025 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Interment at Paris Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Branch 29 Royal Canadian Legion, Paris, would be appreciated.
